Within a production site a colour measurement system is of extreme importance. The colour of the finished products is the most visible quality criterion for the final customer and should not be the reason for a complaint. Therefore a reliable and continuous measurement is indispensable. In order to ensure this reliability we recommend a regular maintenance of the system so that possible problems will be recognised and solved before the measurement system runs into trouble. The best solution is to have a certified service engineer at the customer’s site once a year, who will check the following items:
- Placement of the measurement instrument.
- Adjust distance and angle of the system to the web.
- Cleaning of the measurement instrument: Dust and damp soil the instrument, thus the internal white reference and the optics should be cleaned occasionally.
- If necessary: Exchange of capacitors (every year necessary) and flash lamp, the only wearing parts.
- Check the absolute measurement accuracy against a certified coloured tile set, and issue a certificate as per ISO 9001-2000.
- If necessary: New training of the customer’s operators and update of the software.
A regular service visit will last approximately 3 hours. If there is a EFX measurement frame service can usually be done without interrupting production.
